Rendering Synthetic Objects into Legacy Photographs

Here’s an awesome look at the future of graphics technology. As shown in the video below, this software has the capability to insert 3d CG objects into images with minimal input from the user. All you need to to is tell the program basic things like the layout of walls and the location of lights, and it will do all of the lighting/shading work for you. It even has the capability to detect the edges of objects based on rough outlines and the location of light shafts by analyzing the shadows in a predefined region. The program can even set boundaries so you can insert dynamic objects that bounce off walls and obstacles as seen in the photo. It’s a really cool video and definitely worth a look.
