There are few games that have been as sensational or revolutionary as Super Mario Bros. and Portal. Well, an intrepid game design studio by the name of Stabyourself has set about to combine these two games in the best way possible. That’s right, players will be able to play through the entirety of Super Mario Bros. with the help of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. The game will also feature 4-player co-op and a new, Portal-inspired puzzle-based campaign for more portal-y goodness. But wait, there’s more! Players will be able to design their own levels and submit them online, wherein other players will be able to download the custom map packs for themselves. You can even have custom sprite sheets for your level pack to change how the game looks.
The game is not yet ready for release but so far it looks very promising. The constant blog updates by the designers help illustrate not just how many awesome features will be implemented (basically everything from Portal 2) but how much work they are putting into the details. It’s really interesting to follow the progress of the game and I recommend that you to check out their blog.
Oh, and the best part about the game? When it’s released, it is going to be free!
Stabyourself is also the studio that brought you Not Tetris 2, the most awesome Tetris game since Tetris.
