The process of creating a cottage

After completing a recent 3d materials project I decided I wanted to submit my first project to Behance. I created a series of in-progress images to show some of the process that goes into building a scene for a still render. The process isn’t perfectly portrayed (I actually did the materials before the lighting) but it’s good enough to give an idea of the workflow. This was an interesting scene to create and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

Embedded 3d Objects

3D artists usually have to use either still images or videos to show off their models online. But now there is a way to directly embed 3d objects into a webpage. It’s called p3d.in. Simply create an account, upload your models (currently only obj files are supported) and you’re ready to go. The html code to embed the object is provided to you automatically, and it doesn’t require Flash. I’m really excited to use this as-is and to follow its development as the capabilities of the software improves. Currently models are untextured and use a default lighting system with no shadows, but who knows what we’ll be able to do in the near future?
